Monday, March 3, 2025. Liceo Europeo announces the expansion of its Vermont Academy educational program as part of the school’s offerings, designed for students wishing to attend Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12.
This initiative, in collaboration with the prestigious Vermont Academy – American School Madrid, Liceo Europeo, responds to the excellent reception of the program over the past four years. Since its inception, the American School program at Liceo Europeo in Madrid has experienced significant growth, currently hosting more than 100 students and opening new opportunities for families interested in a quality education with an American methodology.
The increase in places creates new opportunities for families seeking an American-style education without leaving Spain. The High School Diploma, or American Baccalaureate, offered at Liceo Europeo completes a unique educational offer among Spanish schools; the National Baccalaureate is also available with all its branches (Sciences and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, Arts), as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB).
The agreement between Vermont Academy and Liceo Europeo allows students to pursue the U.S. College Preparatory School Diploma on campus, with full immersion in North American language and culture. Teachers, all native English speakers, deliver courses following Vermont Academy’s methodology based on Project-Based Learning (PBL), a teaching method in which students actively learn through real, personally meaningful projects, investigating and responding to authentic and complex situations, problems, and challenges. This approach promotes essential skills such as self-management, organization, communication, and teamwork. Students receive personalized monitoring and academic and personal performance reports (“effort marks”) every three weeks.
